"Outrageous Claims" by Gene Simco?

You may have read that Gene Simco claimed to fight 1,000 people or that he climbed Mt. Everest, but like most of the rumors they are untrue and/or exaggerated to suit the smear campaign against him. By feeding a very hungry BJJ community, Simco became very popular in a short period of time. The demand for his products exceeded his ability to meet them. Many years ago, Gene was forced to partner with companies who could finance and market his products. During that time, some biographies were written about him that were not completely untrue, but hyped more than Gene would have liked. As soon as Simco raised enough capital to purchase the rights to some of his products and websites, any hyped marketing or biographies were corrected by him. This is something that he has always been forthright and honest about. Because of this, you will not find any hyped claims made by Simco in current publishings or on the web. Although it is not possible for Gene Simco to control every person selling products that he licenses the rights to, he sticks to the facts in his own marketing, products and personal website.

"He doesn’t need it (marketing) to sell his books because quite frankly his books speak for themselves, they are excellent." - Rob Kahn
